On May 16, 2019, during a joint session of the Maine State Legislature, I was inducted into the Franco-American Hall of Fame. I can’t believe I’ve had the privilege of creating and performing for almost thirty years! It was such an honor to have my body of work recognized like that and to be included in such illustrious company. I consider everything I write a love letter to the great state of Maine and my Franco-American heritage. Ida’s last name is LeClair, after all.
I was nominated by our state senator, Mark Lawrence, and state representative, Michelle Meyer. Mark and Michele were so gracious showing Gordon and me around the state house, making us feel at home. We even got a behind the scenes look at the democratic caucus before the event got started.
All in all, it was an amazing day! Thank you, Mark and Michelle, for all your support and the work you do everyday on our behalf.
